Bibliography

What is a bibliography?

A bibliography is an alphabetic listing (citations) of all sources of information used in a piece of research work.

There are a number of different ways to structure bibliographies. It is essential that you use only one style. At Clonard, we recommend you follow the APA style which is the style used by the Online Referencing Generator.

Many online resources provide citations, so you need to check which style has been used. If it is not the APA style, you will need to create your own citation. Tip: use the citation provided to locate the information you need to fill in the Referencing Generator.

Points to remember

  • Get into the habit of writing down the bibliographic details as soon as you decide that a resource will be useful.
  • When in doubt, ask for help from your teacher or librarian.
  • You have two options to create your references. Both use APA, so you can include citations from both in your bibliography.
