Databases

 

Click on the above link to go to Infobase. Here you can access the Science, History and Literature databases.

Informit

Click on the above image to go to Informit, the database which will help you research a range of topics. All of the content on the Informit site is Australian, which includes articles from a range of Australian non-fiction journals, There are also overviews of a range of topics relating to the subjects that you might be studying.

Once you click on the image, you will be taken to the Informit log in page.

Click the Login tab in the top right corner.

The next page, click Microsoft, to be logged into the site via your Microsft email address.

The next page will ask, do you have a passcode or do you have single sign on?

Choose single sign on. Type clon into Find your institution

and Clonard College will appear. 

Once you are logged in with your name in the top right corner

you will have ongoing access to the database.

This will be the only time you will have to select single sign on.

Every other time, you will be taken straight to the site once you click the image.

 

Encyclopaedias

Click on the above image to go to Encyclopaedia Brittanica. From there you can access the Primary, Middle and High levels of Brittanica.

Brittanica online provides research materials including articles, images and videos.

 

Other Resources

If prompted, log in using your email (e.g. wxyza@clonard.vic.edu.au) and network password

 

Evaluating Resources

To evaluate any resource whether it is print, video, image or other source, consider the following questions.

Currency — Can you find a date of the article or photograph? When was it last updated?

Relevance — Who is the intended audience? How does the source meet your needs?

Accuracy — Is the information supported by evidence? Does it cite other sources?

Authority — Who is the author? What are their credentials?

Purpose — Does the site give facts or opinions? Does it have a clear bias?
